We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Fiber technician. This role is crucial in supporting our operations in the field, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in heavy equipment operation and field service, demonstrating proficiency in various technical skills related to telecommunications and IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment, including bucket trucks, to facilitate installation and maintenance tasks.
• Perform fiber splicing and cabling for telecommunication systems, ensuring high-quality connections.
• Conduct installations and repairs of low voltage systems, including LAN and WAN networks.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to complete construction tasks related to network infrastructure.
• Read and interpret schematics to ensure accurate installation of electrical components.
• Climb to elevated work areas safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues related to computer networking and telephony systems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Experience

• Proven experience in field service roles, particularly within the telecommunications or IT sectors.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and safety practices.
• Strong understanding of fiber splicing techniques and cabling standards.
• Knowledge of computer networking concepts, including Ethernet protocols and network infrastructure design.
• Experience working with low voltage electrical systems is preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
