Trucking Dispatcher

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Trucking Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily operations of freight transportation. In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub between drivers, carriers, clients, and internal teams to ensure timely, efficient, and safe delivery of goods. Duties

• Coordinate dispatching activities by assigning loads to drivers based on delivery schedules, driver availability, and route efficiency using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
• Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations in real-time, ensuring adherence to schedules and optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and timely deliveries.
• Communicate with drivers via multi-line phone systems and two-way radios to provide instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes.
• Maintain accurate data entry for shipments, freight details, driver logs, and delivery documentation using systems like AS400 or transportation management software.
• Collaborate with warehouse teams on shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring seamless coordination between freight pickup and delivery points.
• Analyze transportation data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies; develop solutions to improve overall logistics performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies through effective communication and documentation practices.

Skills

• Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS tracking technology, and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
• Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, transportation planning, fleet management, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
• Excellent analysis skills to interpret data related to freight movements, routing efficiencies, and operational metrics.
• Effective dispatching abilities combined with superior communication skills and phone etiquette for clear interactions with drivers and clients.
• High typing speed with accuracy for data entry tasks; experience with AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.
• Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes along with freight documentation procedures.
• Knowledge of transportation management best practices including shipping & receiving coordination and fleet management strategies.
