Job Description:

Colleague is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Truss Designer / Estimator to join our team remotely. This full-time position is ideal for a professional with strong experience in structural wood truss design, estimation, and construction documentation, who can work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design roof and floor truss systems using Alpine design software to meet customer specifications and building code requirements.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, layouts, and material takeoffs for residential and commercial truss projects.
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure accurate interpretation and efficient truss design.
  • Coordinate with sales, production, and engineering teams to deliver complete and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Identify potential design or construction issues and provide practical recommendations.
  • Maintain organized project records and ensure deadlines are met for all assigned work.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to clarify project details and expectations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Alpine truss design software required.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, load paths, and structural principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in a remote environment.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in truss design or structural estimation.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or engineering coursework preferred.
  • Experience with residential or light commercial wood framing design highly valued.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
