Parsons is looking for an experienced and talented Tunnels Engineer (TBM Survey) to join our construction supervision team! In this role, you will assist the Resident Engineer - Tunnels in supervising and reviewing survey works related to TBM tunnel construction works, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising the construction of tunnels, underground structures, and associated works.
- Monitor and oversee the TBM aspects of tunnel construction activities, ensuring execution aligns with approved project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other engineers and members of the construction supervision team to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
- Monitoring tunneling survey from the start, Review the traverse calculation to lower the Tunnel Center to the station
- Review Alignments calculation & Position as per the software provided with the machine to define the machine advance within the allowable tolerance.
- Verify the roll in machine if happened.
- Supervise 3D measurement for Tunnel Alignments before and after each Tunnel as well for TBM's Breaking In & Out.
- Define through survey information the critical zones nearby each Annex for special rings to be installed.
- Review the setting out for movement point and its relevant tolerance for Tunnel fixation during the cutting process to start NATM Tunnels to connect the Annexes
- Supervise and approve the 3D measurement / survey for Moulds & Segments during production.
- Review the calculations given to the machine to extend the target laser to ensure the TBM alignments.
- Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and correspondence related to tunnel works, and prepare responses for the Resident Engineer's review.
- Provide on-site technical assistance and guidance to construction teams to ensure compliance with quality and safety objectives.
- Coordinate with design engineers to resolve structural issues encountered during construction.
- Maintain accurate and detailed daily diaries and reports prepared by inspectors.
- Work closely with contractor engineers to manage scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking for tunnel construction.
- Supervise and guide inspectors and surveyors to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Convene and lead meetings with service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to address construction-related issues.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of construction records, including as-built documentation.
- Oversee the implementation of safety procedures specific to tunneling works and ensure adherence to project safety goals.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports for the Resident Engineer.
- Provide on-site direction and assist the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions related to tunnel works and associated items.
- Verify and measure completed work, record progress, and assist the Resident Engineer in comparing progress against the project schedule.
- Ensure the correctness and completeness of as-built drawings and oversee the handover of tunnel works to respective service authorities.
- Analyze engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure they meet project requirements and resolve any discrepancies during construction.
- Ensure construction quality and adherence to engineering standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university is required.
- Minimum Five (5) to (10) years of experience in supervising tunnel construction, particularly in mbetro rail or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of Tunnel Boring Machine, operations and related works to tunnels and underground works.
- Experience of Monitoring tunneling survey from the start, Review the traverse calculation to lower the Tunnel Center to the station
- Experience of Reviewing Alignments calculation & Position as per the software provided with the machine.
- Experience of reviewing calculations and inspecting 3D measurements for Tunnel Alignments, setting out for movement point, 3D measurement / survey for Moulds & Segments.
- Ability to review and justify material submissions, analyze laboratory and technical reports, and ensure compliance with project specifications through acceptance sampling plans, testing, and quality measures.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and use project-specific engineering and construction-relevant software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with strong technical writing capabilities.
- Working knowledge of construction sequences, methods, and standard work procedures in the tunneling industry.
- Experience working on large metro rail projects with tunnel sections is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to tunnel construction and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in tunnel construction.
