Position Summary
The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) is responsible for writing, filming, and editing news stories for the live broadcast, website, and social media. The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist reports to the Senior Instructor. The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist reports the COMM/FILM faculty.

This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment.

Essential Functions
  • Promote education while serving the university as a positive, reliable, and entertaining source of campus news, sports, and events.
  • Manage the daily operations of UIWtv.
  • Learn real-life production challenges and gain professional experience and receive hands-on experience for students with an interest in the production process and aesthetics of broadcast television.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to shoot, write and edit News Packages and VO/SOTS.
  • Knowledge of PremierePro, camera equipment, and strong writing skills.
  • Team player with a willingness to help mentor students.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Full-time UIW Communication Arts student.

Required Work Experience
None.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of COMM 3395 TV Practicum or COMM 3353 Broadcast Journalism.
  • Knowledge of TriCaster production switcher.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.

Work Hours
Monday – Friday hours will vary, up to 20 hours per week.
