Your Team:

The Office of Asset and Property Management (APM) leads the agency’s effort to protect the City’s investment in affordable housing and ensure that properties remain stable and affordable over the long-term. APM actively monitors the performance and regulatory compliance of projects sponsored, supervised, and owned by the City, and connects people to affordable housing opportunities.

APM includes the Divisions of Asset Management, Property Management & Client Services, Housing Supervision, Housing Opportunities & Program Services, and Co-op Readiness & Technical Services.

Your Impact:

As the Administrative Assistant Intern to the Director of Program Management for the Executive Office of Asset and
Property Management, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of the executive office.

Your Responsibilities:

The intern will, under the direction and supervision of the Director of APM Operations:
  • File succession application
  • File Hearing Decisions
  • Data Entry of Route Sheets and help digitize the application by creating an online system
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail for the Director of Programs.
  • Arranging drop-off of certified mail
  • Mailing back return to sender mailing

Preferred skills:

  • Enrolled in undergraduate coursework
  • Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and an ability to synthesize
information quickly and effectively.
  • Exhibits a collaborative spirit and adaptability to function well within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic, showcasing a desire for self-directed initiatives, as ample opportunities for
independent work will be available.

Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development does not provide sponsorship for international employees for visa applications, extensions, or status changes, including H-1B visas. Minimum Qualifications


As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.

Residency Requirement


New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
