Underground Truck Operator

Asante has an experienced and skilled team of mine finders, builders and operators, with extensive experience in Ghana. Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana's largest underground mine.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance, and actively promote Safety Culture and Hazard Awareness on the Mine.
• Operate haul trucks in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Haul materials from underground to assigned areas on Surface.
• Work in coordination with the Bogger Operators to ensure full load and balanced truck; ensure operational targets are met in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner.
• Ensure that ore and other materials are properly hauled according to safety requirements.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and monitor conditions by verifying component functionality, fluid levels and fittings, as well as depth and alignment of the Truck.
• Operate the truck equipment in a safe manner and take appropriate steps to prevent minimal wear and tear and/or damage to equipment.
• Use hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources
• Complete all tasks at the required rate and to the required standard.
• Participate in all applicable safety, prestart and shift team meetings.
• Complete end of shift tasks including status checks, data reporting and handover for the incoming shift.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by your shift supervisor

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

• Minimum of basic educational qualifications NVTI or its equivalent from a recognized institution
• Minimum of five (5) years underground experience.
• Possess Equipment Operator's certification issued by Minerals Commission
• Advance knowledge and/or experience with the operation of underground haul trucks.
• Understanding of bucket count per stope and bogging per instructions
• Experienced with Sandvik Trucks is an added advantage
• Previous labour intensive/manual handling work experience.
• Flexible and willing to assist with varied tasks and responsibilities
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• A strong focus on safety and hazard identification
• Solid safety history in underground mining operations.
• Substantial knowledge of underground practices and safety procedures
• Sound electrical and mechanical knowledge on Underground Trucks.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the relevant Minerals and Mining Regulations pertaining to Underground haulage.
• Demonstrate strong work ethics and be able to communicate courteously with co-workers.
• Possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive underground.
