Underserved Communities Coordinator

Overview:

SAFE is seeking a full-time Underserved Communities Coordinator to help expand access to services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence who may face additional barriers to safety, support, and resources.

This position is ideal for someone who is bilingual in English and Spanish, comfortable working directly in the community, and passionate about building relationships that help survivors access the support they need.

The Underserved Communities Coordinator will provide advocacy services to community-based clients while also developing strong relationships with allied partners, community groups, and organizations serving underserved populations. This includes outreach to groups and partners connected to immigrant and non-English-speaking communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, older adults, people with disabilities, BIPOC communities, male-identifying survivors, and others who may experience barriers to services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advocacy, support, information, referrals, safety planning, and follow-up services to community-based survivors of domestic and sexual violence
• Maintain a meaningful caseload of community clients from underserved populations
• Conduct outreach in the community to increase awareness of SAFE’s services
• Build and maintain relationships with allied partners, community organizations, and groups with shared focus areas across our five county service area
• Develop connections with organizations such as PRIDE groups, aging services providers, disability service organizations, immigrant-serving organizations, social services, housing providers, healthcare providers, and other community partners
• Identify barriers to service access and work with SAFE leadership and staff to improve outreach and response
• Provide presentations, workshops, and awareness activities in both traditional and nontraditional community settings
• Assist Spanish-speaking clients during hotline calls, intakes, advocacy meetings, and service coordination
• Participate in staff meetings, case coordination, reporting, training, and other assigned activities
• Share in hotline and on-call coverage as assigned

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice, public health, or related field strongly preferred
• Associate's degree plus five years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a bachelor’s degree
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, crisis response, advocacy, case management, or human services preferred
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and communities
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and outreach skills
• Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and follow through on client and community needs
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation
• Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, internet-based tools, texting, and general office technology
• Must exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and compassion
• Must pass a Child Protective Services and National Criminal Background check.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evening and weekend work will be required for outreach, events, training, hotline coverage, or on-call responsibilities.
