The Utility Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all utility-related activities within major infrastructure, roads, and bridges projects. This role ensures proper design review, site supervision, conflict resolution, and coordination with authorities in line with CDM Smith’s engineering and consulting standards. The ideal candidate must have strong UAE experience in utility design, relocation, diversion, and construction supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Review utility design drawings, shop drawings, and as-built submissions for compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
- Supervise construction activities related to utilities, including water, irrigation, sewerage, stormwater, electrical, telecom, and district cooling networks.
- Monitor utility relocation, protection, and diversion works to avoid conflicts with roads and bridges infrastructure.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and local authorities (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, ADSSC, Etisalat, DU, RTA, ADM).
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to approved drawings and project plans.
- Identify and resolve utility clashes with roadway and structural elements.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and review method statements and ITPs related to utility works.
- Support the project team in ensuring compliance with CDM Smith standards for infrastructure engineering and construction services.
- Ensure all utility works follow project timelines, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide technical input on utility-related issues.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 experience in utility engineering within UAE infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in roads, bridges, and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in utility design review, supervision, and coordination.
- Excellent knowledge of UAE authority standards (DEWA, RTA, ADSSC, ADDC, Etisalat, DU).
- Familiarity with CDM Smith–style engineering consultancy processes, QA/QC standards, and construction supervision practices.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international engineering consulting firms, ideally within infrastructure/transportation projects.
- Certification in project management or relevant engineering disciplines.
- Previous experience on major roads and bridges programs in the UAE.
