AIA Contract Documents is the industry standard for architecture and construction contracts, trusted for over 135 years. Our Catina platform is a secure, cloud-based hub for creating and managing contract documents. We are hiring a UX Designer to join our fully remote product team. You will help shape the user experience of our web-based SaaS platform, collaborating closely with product managers and engineers. This is a unique opportunity to simplify complex legal workflows and make a meaningful impact on the day-to-day work of architects, engineers, and construction professionals. We use Figma for all design work, so experience designing SaaS or productivity platforms will help you succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
-
Design end-to-end user flows: Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma that address user needs and project requirements.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and ensure designs align with business goals and technical constraints.
-
Conduct user research: Plan and facilitate user interviews, usability tests, or surveys. Use insights from research and analytics to validate and refine design decisions.
-
Maintain design system: Contribute to our UI component library and style guidelines to ensure consistency across the platform. Help evolve our design system by documenting patterns and best practices.
-
Iterate on designs: Incorporate feedback from users and team members to improve the product. Be prepared to revise and optimize designs based on data, accessibility standards, and emerging needs.
-
Advocate for users: Champion user-centered design and accessibility best practices throughout the development process. Communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders and engineering teammates.
-
Ensure implementation quality: Collaborate with developers during implementation to verify that the final product matches the design intent. Support the team in troubleshooting UI/UX issues and refining the experience post-launch.
Qualifications
-
Experience: 2–5 years of UX design experience, ideally working on web applications or SaaS products (workflow, productivity, or B2B platforms preferred).
-
Portfolio: A strong portfolio that demonstrates a systematic UX design process (research, ideation, prototyping) and solid visual design skills.
-
Design tools: Proficiency in Figma (wireframing, prototyping, and design specification). Familiarity with other design and prototyping tools is a plus.
-
User research: Hands-on experience with user research methods (e.g. interviews, usability testing, surveys) and translating insights into design improvements.
-
Web & accessibility: Good understanding of responsive web design and accessibility standards (WCAG).
-
Design systems: Experience contributing to a design system or pattern library, including documenting components and guidelines.
-
Collaboration & communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to clearly explain design decisions and iterate based on feedback. Comfortable working in a cross-functional remote team.
-
Self-motivation: Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a remote work environment. You take ownership of your work and thrive with autonomy while asking for support when needed.
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field – or equivalent practical experience.
-
Bonus: Interest or background in architecture, construction, or legal technology, and familiarity with complex domain-specific workflows is a plus (but not required).
