UX Designer

About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a UX Designer located in Charlotte to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 18-month but may be extended.

This role will be <hybrid> with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

About the Role

The User Experience (Product) Designer plays a critical role in shaping the digital treasury and payments experience for global corporate and commercial clients. This role helps differentiate the organization’s digital platform by transforming complex business requirements into intuitive, client-centered experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply user-centered design processes, including design thinking, to identify client needs and deliver intuitive digital solutions.
  • Conduct and synthesize user research, including moderated sessions and hypothesis-based research methods, to validate design decisions.
  • Create interaction designs, prototypes, visual designs, and manage development handoff for digital features within the platform.
  • Collaborate with design leads, product managers, product owners, and developers from early-stage conceptualization through final delivery.
  • Advocate for user needs by translating complex product and business requirements into efficient, intuitive digital experiences.
  • Support multiple digital projects simultaneously while developing long-term product expertise.
  • Utilize and contribute to design systems using tools such as Figma.
  • Facilitate client feedback loops and help integrate continuous improvement into the product lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in UX research, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design—preferably in digital channels or digital integration.
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX capabilities including research, interaction, and visual design.
  • Strong experience with Figma, design systems, and prototyping tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment with rapid change.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills—capable of synthesizing complex information for stakeholders.
  • Self-starter mindset, able to work independently while knowing when to drive consensus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with treasury management, payments, FX, or other financial services.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with clients for research and feedback cycles.
  • Ability to translate strategic business goals into practical UX direction.
