To manage the overall operations of the Fruits & Vegetables section, ensuring proper stock availability, quality maintenance, pricing, display, hygiene, customer service, and sales growth.

Key Responsibilities1. Stock & Inventory Management

  • Ensure daily availability of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Monitor stock levels and place purchase orders with suppliers or procurement team.
  • Check inbound stock for freshness, quality, and damage.
  • Maintain correct storage conditions (temperature, humidity, segregation).
  • Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expire, First Out) systems to reduce wastage.
  • Maintain inventory records, wastage reports, and daily sales updates.

2. Display & Merchandising

  • Arrange products attractively to increase customer attraction and sales.
  • Use proper labeling for price, barcode, country of origin, and expiry (if applicable).
  • Maintain cleanliness and attractiveness of the display area and shelves.
  • Place promotional and seasonal items on priority display.
  • Ensure proper signage for offers, discounts, and new arrival items.

3. Quality & Hygiene

  • Remove damaged, rotten, or expired items immediately.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards for baskets, shelves, cutting/storing tools.
  • Ensure hygiene compliance as per food safety standards (HACCP/municipality rules).

4. Sales & Customer Service

  • Assist customers in selecting fresh items.
  • Provide product information (origin, quality, price, seasonal availability).
  • Handle customer complaints politely and solve issues professionally.
  • Promote sales by suggesting alternatives, combo packs, and offers.

5. Pricing & Billing Coordination

  • Ensure correct pricing in POS system and on display shelves.
  • Update daily price changes (especially for fresh market rate items).
  • Coordinate with billing staff for price corrections and barcode issues.

6. Team Supervision

  • Guide helpers, packers, or cleaners working in the section.
  • Assign daily tasks such as cleaning, peeling/packing, and restocking.
  • Maintain staff discipline and work efficiency.

7. Reporting & Administration

  • Submit sales reports, wastage reports, and stock requirements to management.
  • Check and verify supplier delivery invoices.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and warehouse for stock transfers.

Skills & Requirements

  • Experience in Fruits & Vegetables retail section (supermarket/hypermarket).
  • Knowledge of product varieties, seasonal patterns, and market pricing.
  • Good communication and customer handling skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge (stock entry, billing coordination).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and chilled environment.
  • Physically fit for lifting and stocking.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum High School
  • 1–3 years supermarket experience in Fruits & Vegetables section preferred.
