Job Title: Vehicle Engineer – Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Design

About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Vehicle Engineer to lead the design and development of wheelchair accessible vehicles from concept to launch. This role requires hands-on experience in vehicle systems engineering, prototype development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable vehicle designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineer, design, and develop new vehicle conversions using CAD (Inventor).
- Design mechanisms, suspensions, structures, closures (doors & liftgates), and integrate all vehicle systems.
- Plan for design, procurement, assembly, and validation in alignment with project timelines and Stage Gate (APQP) processes.
- Ensure vehicle designs meet budget, quality, and performance targets.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Portfolio teams to meet project requirements.
- Suggest low-cost design alternatives, standardization, and common designs.
- Build and design prototype vehicles and participate in design reviews.
- Continuously improve designs, processes, and project timing while maintaining specifications.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s in the US mandatory.
- Experience taking products from concept through launch, ideally multiple complex projects.
- Strong mechanism design and vehicle integration knowledge.
- Proficiency in structural design, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and LEAN principles.
- Understanding of fuel, exhaust, cooling, and braking systems, materials, and industry standards.
- Experience with vehicle compartments such as closures and suspensions.
- Knowledge of quality, design, and validation tools: FEA, DFA/M, DOE, D/PFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, 8D problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault, MS Office, Epicor (ERP).
- Strong attention to detail, self-starter, and able to meet project deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prototype fabrication and welding experience preferred.
