Vehicle Graphics Designer & Installer

Position Summary

The Vehicle Graphic Designer & Installer is responsible for designing, producing, installing, and removing vehicle graphics, decals, wraps, and reflective markings on first responder and public safety vehicles. This role routinely interacts directly with customers, including law enforcement, fire departments, EMS agencies, and municipal clients, and is expected to represent Witmer Public Safety Group professionally at all times.

The position blends creative design work with hands-on installation and requires accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable visibility, branding, and durability standards for emergency vehicles.

Occasional overtime is expected based on workload, fleet schedules, or customer deadlines.

Scope and Authority (Internal Controls)

• This role may coordinate directly with customers regarding design details, installation logistics, and scheduling.
• This role does not have authority to approve pricing changes, contract terms, scope changes, or delivery commitments outside approved work orders.
• Any changes requested by customers affecting scope, cost, or timeline must be escalated to Sales or Project Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design & Production

• Design vehicle graphics and layouts for police, fire, EMS, and other public safety vehicles.
• Prepare production-ready artwork using approved design software and templates.
• Verify measurements, color accuracy, materials, reflective requirements, and branding compliance.
• Maintain organized digital design files and repeat-order templates.
• Review proofs with customers and incorporate approved revisions.

Installation & Field Work

• Install graphics, decals, wraps, striping, and reflective materials on emergency vehicles.

• Remove or replace existing graphics without damaging vehicle surfaces.

• Prepare vehicles for installation through cleaning, surface inspection, and layout alignment.
• Perform quality inspections prior to vehicle release.
• Travel to customer sites as required for on-site installations or adjustments.

Customer Interaction & Coordination

• Communicate directly with customers regarding design approvals, installation timelines, and work execution.
• Maintain professional conduct while working on customer vehicles or at customer facilities.
• Coordinate with Sales, Project Management, and Production teams to meet deadlines and customer expectations.

General

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Follow all safety policies and shop procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in vehicle graphic design and/or vehicle graphic installation.
• Proficiency with professional design software used in vehicle graphics production.
• Ability to read specifications, layouts, and work orders accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Physical ability to perform installations, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with first responder or fleet vehicle graphics.
• Experience with reflective vinyls and emergency vehicle materials.
• Formal training or certification in graphic design or vehicle wrap installation.
• Ability to mentor or provide task guidance to junior installers (as assigned).
