Key responsibilities

· Supplier identification and evaluation: Find and onboard new vendors for forgings, and machined parts through market research and audits.

· Technical and commercial evaluation: Assess suppliers based on technical capabilities, quality systems, and financial viability, often involving DFM (Design for Manufacturing) discussions.

· Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery schedules, ensuring targets for cost reduction and supplier performance are met.

· Cross-functional collaboration: Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to align on specifications, resolve issues, and ensure smooth part launch.

· Performance management: Monitor vendor performance on quality, cost, and delivery, and drive improvements through technical guidance and process audits.

· Quality assurance: Ensure vendors meet quality standards by managing the Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) and resolving quality issues.

· Relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers.

Required skills and qualifications

· Strong technical knowledge of forging and machining processes, including tool design and materials.

· Familiarity with quality ISO standards and methodologies (e.g., PPAP, DFM).

· Proven negotiation and commercial skills.

· Experience with ERP systems for procurement and supply chain functions.

· Understanding of cost reduction techniques like VA/VE.

· Experience with automotive or related industry standards is often a plus, especially for roles in those sectors.
