Job Title: Veterinary Technician (Vet Tech – Pets)
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team, specializing in the care of cats and dogs. The ideal candidate must have over 1 year of veterinary clinical experience in the UAE, with strong skills in animal handling, blood machine operation, and supporting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures. The Vet Tech will play a key role in ensuring high-quality care, maintaining clinic workflow, and supporting both patients and the veterinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in the examination, treatment, and nursing care of pets (mainly cats and dogs).
- Safely handle and restrain animals during procedures, including expert handling/holding for examinations, blood collection, imaging, and treatments.
- Prepare patients for examinations, surgeries, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
- Assist during surgeries by monitoring anesthesia, preparing equipment, and maintaining sterile technique.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as vaccinations, deworming, nail trimming, and sample collection.
- Operate hematology and biochemistry machines and ensure accurate laboratory testing.
- Assist with diagnostic imaging including X-ray positioning and machine operation, as well as ultrasound preparation and support.
- Place IV cannulas and assist with fluid therapy, injections, and medication administration.
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including monitoring vital signs, feeding, and ensuring comfort and cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate electronic patient records and update treatment sheets.
- Educate pet owners on preventive healthcare, medication instructions, and post-treatment care.
- Maintain clinic hygiene, sterilize instruments, and assist in managing medical supplies.
- Support reception and administrative tasks when needed.
Requirements:
- Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Nurse qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in the UAE working with small animals (cats and dogs).
- Proficiency in using blood machines (hematology and biochemistry), X-ray procedures, and IV cannula placement.
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
- Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, professional, and able to work efficiently under supervision following clinic protocols.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in UAE pet clinics, grooming centers, or boarding facilities.
- Familiarity with minor surgical assistance and laboratory testing.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary software and electronic medical records.
