Veterinary Technician/Assistant (Part-Time, Potential for Full-Time)

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Safely restrain animals for exams, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Collect and prepare lab samples (blood, urine, fecal)
  • Perform or assist with radiographs
  • Monitor patients during treatment and hospitalization
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Communicate clearly with team members and support client care
  • Assist with cleaning, stocking, and overall clinic organization
  • Support a fast-paced urgent care workflow with flexibility and efficiency

Skills
As an Urgent Care Technician/ Assistant, you will:

  • Perform a Phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placements, laboratory testing, among other important technical skills
  • Monitoring sedated and anesthetized patients
  • Triage urgent care cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns and learning team members.
  • Be able to conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Accurately record controlled drugs
  • Have a knowledge of common veterinary drugs, their uses, side effects and dosages
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
