About the Pet Cancer Foundation

The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12 million dogs and cats develop cancer each year, which is roughly six times the number of humans diagnosed annually in North America.

As the organization continues to work toward the accomplishment of our mission, the PCF team includes professionals contributing virtually across Canada, the United States, and several other countries worldwide. As we expand our impact, we need a skilled Vice President of Marketing to help strengthen and grow our brand presence. That’s where and how you can help us.

About the Position

The Vice President, Marketing is responsible for leading the strategic development, budgeting, and execution of PCF’s marketing initiatives to elevate brand awareness, audience engagement, and organizational visibility. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role oversees builds and mentors the team responsible for brand marketing, digital marketing, advertising, and promotional campaigns, ensuring consistency and impact across all channels. This is a leadership position requires an experienced and entrepreneurial marketing professional with a strategic mindset, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for making a difference utilizing grassroots, guerilla marketing tactics. The VP collaborates closely with the VP of Communications and senior leadership to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with broader organizational initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, budget, and execute PCF’s comprehensive marketing strategy to increase brand awareness, audience engagement, and support for the organization’s mission.
  • Oversee brand marketing, digital marketing, advertising, and promotional initiatives, ensuring consistency in messaging and campaign execution.
  • Guide the development of marketing plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment with PCF’s strategic objectives and collaboration across departments.
  • Ensure the integrity and application of PCF’s brand guidelines, working closely with the Art Director and Brand Marketing team.
  • Oversee marketing efforts that improve the reach and visibility of PCF’s content, including SEO, paid media, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Communications to ensure marketing and communication efforts are seamlessly integrated.
  • Monitor marketing performance through key metrics and analytics, optimizing strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

About You

You are a seasoned marketing professional with a proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies. You thrive in leadership roles and have experience building and managing teams. You are passionate about brand development, audience engagement, and data-driven decision-making. Your ability to collaborate across departments and align marketing efforts with organizational goals makes you an ideal candidate for this role. Above all, you thrive in a start-up environment and not afraid of the challenges that brings. You have:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing leadership roles, with a focus on brand development, digital marketing, and audience engagement.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful marketing strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated success in grassroots, guerilla marketing campaigns.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring and developing marketing teams.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, including SEO, paid media, and performance analytics.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of branding principles and experience maintaining brand integrity across marketing initiatives.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit or volunteer sector (preferred but not required).
