1099 Performance-Based Leadership Role (Transition to Salary + Bonus)

We are an emerging medical device and supply company positioned for rapid national expansion. We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial Vice President of Sales to build, lead, and scale a high-performance sales organization from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity for a proven sales leader who wants meaningful upside, autonomy, and the ability to directly shape the trajectory of a growth-stage healthcare company.

Initially structured as a 1099 performance-based role with a highly competitive commission and bonus plan, this position will transition to a salary + bonus structure as revenue milestones are achieved.

What You Will Do

As VP of Sales, you will be both a strategist and a producer.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, hire, and onboard high-performing medical sales professionals
  • Build and manage a team of up to 20 sales representatives, with possible scaling to as many as 60 over the course of the next 24-months.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and KPIs
  • Conduct ongoing sales training, mentorship, and accountability sessions
  • Foster a culture of integrity, urgency, and measurable results

Strategy & Execution

  • Develop structured sales goals, territories, and compensation alignment
  • Create scalable sales processes and reporting systems
  • Drive market penetration strategy and channel development
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on growth strategy

Direct Revenue Responsibility

  • Maintain personal quota and actively sell key accounts
  • Lead from the front — closing business and setting the performance standard
  • Drive aggressive but achievable revenue growth targets

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years of successful medical device or healthcare sales leadership experience
  • Proven ability to recruit and scale a sales team
  • Demonstrated success carrying and exceeding a personal sales quota
  • Strong coaching, training, and motivational leadership skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — thrives in startup environments
  • High accountability, data-driven decision maker
  • Proven ability to achieve or exceed personal and team sales and profitability goals
  • Comfortable in a performance-based compensation structure

Compensation Structure

Phase 1 (Startup Growth Phase – 1099):

  • Generous commission on personal production
  • Override commissions on team production
  • Performance-based leadership bonuses
  • Significant income upside tied directly to growth

Phase 2 (Milestone Achievement):

  • Transition to base salary + performance bonus structure
  • Long-term leadership and executive growth opportunity
