Vice President of Quality Enhancement

Join Latham Centers, a world-renowned leader in supporting children with complex special needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome. We are seeking a Vice President of Quality Enhancement who will provide executive leadership for the organization’s quality management, risk mitigation, compliance, and safety programs. This role ensures the agency meets or exceeds all state, federal, and accreditation standards while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and person-centered excellence.

The VPQE oversees the Quality Enhancement System, supervises the Quality Enhancement Director, and partners with senior leadership to integrate quality and risk strategies into all programs and operations. The VPQE also serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, ensuring transparent communication and proactive resolution of compliance issues.

This leader will be highly visible across all programs, playing a vital role in driving collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. They will support and partner with teams to strengthen learning and quality outcomes, provide strong and decisive leadership, and help deliver positive results for the people we serve.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm. This is primarily an in-person position, as on-site presence is important for visibility and collaboration. However, there is an opportunity for a hybrid schedule.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Masters Degree with focus in a human services field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in quality assurance, risk management, or compliance within human services, healthcare, or education, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Massachusetts regulatory frameworks for human services (DDS, DPH, DESE) and accreditation standards (e.g., COA, CARF).
  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational change and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Valid driver’s license

Essential Job Function:
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute an agency-wide Quality & Risk Management Strategic Plan aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Advise the CEO, senior leadership, and Board committees on emerging risks, quality trends, and compliance priorities.
  • Serve as the agency’s lead on accreditation and licensing readiness (e.g., COA, DDS, DESE, DPH).
Quality Management Oversight
  • Oversee the Quality Enhancement Director in conducting internal audits, environmental inspections, and case record reviews across programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all DDS, DPH, DESE, OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze key quality indicators, consumer satisfaction surveys, and performance outcomes; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Chair the Quality Council and present quarterly quality and risk reports to the Board.
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Lead the organization’s Risk Management program, including identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational, health, legal, and financial risks.
  • Oversee incident management, including investigations, root cause analysis, and regulatory reporting (HCSIS, OSHA, HIPAA breaches).
  • Partner with HR, legal counsel, and insurance carriers on workers’ compensation, liability claims, and loss prevention strategies.
  • Ensure effective policies, procedures, and training are in place to prevent compliance violations.
Regulatory & Accreditation
  • Maintain readiness for all licensing, certification, and accreditation site visits.
  • Conduct mid-cycle audits to monitor readiness for licensing and accreditation.
  • Develop action plans to address variances from operational and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee preparation and facilitation of surveys from DDS, DPH, DESE, and accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure timely and complete responses to regulatory inquiries and corrective action plans.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Directly supervise the Quality Enhancement Director and additional compliance/risk staff.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Operations, Human Resources, Finance, and Facilities to address cross-departmental quality and safety issues.
  • Provide executive-level training to managers and directors on quality standards, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance.
