Summary
The VP of Construction is a senior leader within the subsidiary companies under the management of Ahtna Diversified Holdings, LLC (ADH), reporting to the ADH President and serving as a key member of the senior management team. This role directs and oversees all construction operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and contractual requirements.
This role provides strategic leadership across the construction portfolio, manages multidisciplinary teams, and is accountable for contract compliance, financial performance, margin expectations, customer satisfaction, and superior safety outcomes. The role oversees project execution, deliverables, and staff performance, while fostering strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and employees.
In this role, the VP of Construction also leads business development and proposal efforts, identifies and secures new project opportunities, and supports federal contracting requirements. In collaboration with the VP of Operations, this role helps develop and refine SOPs and project controls that strengthen operational effectiveness and support long-term, sustainable growth.
The salary range for this position is $192,904-$244,988 per year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Executive & Strategic Responsibilities
- P&L Ownership
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for the construction division.
- Develop project budgets, monitor cost performance, and ensure projects meet financial targets.
- Oversee earned value management (EVM), cash flow, and backlog health.
- Manage portfolio risk and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
- Lead the company’s business development and capture efforts by identifying and evaluating new opportunities, building strategic client relationships, developing competitive pursuit and proposal strategies, and securing new contracts that drive sustained organizational growth.
- Oversee contract performance, manage risk, and ensure alignment with contractual scope and requirements.
- Drive strategic business planning, contribute to organizational infrastructure improvements, and support company growth initiatives.
Operations & Project Execution
- Collaborate with Program and Project Managers to oversee contract operations and execution, ensuring full compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Lead cross‑functional coordination, establishing clear tasks, timelines, and project workflows while resolving issues as they arise.
- Prepare and support development of contract modifications, statements of work, cost and pricing estimates, and proposal content.
- Support project teams with ongoing project management, including purchasing oversight, budgeting, job‑cost analysis, and reporting.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve project issues, changes, and remedial actions.
- Serve as liaison with contracting officers and union representatives, communicating effectively on contractual, operational, and labor matters.
Quality, Compliance & Organizational Processes
- Implement and oversee quality assurance and quality control programs, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain organizational policies, procedures, and safety programs in cooperation with leadership and HR.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and produce monthly project updates and reports.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for program and project status meetings.
Leadership & People Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of safety, compliance, and high staff morale while developing and mentoring professional project management staff.
- Recruit and mentor construction professionals.
- Lead succession planning and workforce development.
General
- Perform additional duties as needed to ensure successful project and organizational performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise all Operations, Program, and Project Managers, along with their respective teams, including oversight of Warehouse operations, contract personnel, and designated Corporate Administrative staff as organizational needs evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration or Organizational Management.
- Professional experience at a managerial/operational level may substitute on a 2:1 ratio
- Ten (10) years of professional experience with at least eight (8) years of direct project management experience of multiple projects in a supervisory capacity.
- Five (5) years of senior‑level or progressively responsible experience in federal government contracting environments.
- P&L oversight experience.
- Strong understanding of federal contracting, FAR/DFAR, QC processes, and safety regulations.
- Experience in civil and vertical building services industry techniques to a relatively high degree in principle and practice, including HVAC, electrical distribution systems, fire/life safety systems, plumbing, and energy management control systems.
- Design-build construction experience.
- Experience in estimating, capturing, and executing federal design-build construction work.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited university in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Current security clearance or ability to possess a security clearance.
- Experience in Alaska or remote environments.
- Knowledge of USACE RMS, QCM certification, and other federal agency processes.
- Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, CCM, DBIA.
- Experience in capture planning and federal business development.
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
