Whatcom County's Prosecuting Attorney's Office is currently recruiting for a Victim Witness Coordinator II.

If you answered yes to these questions, we hope to hear about your qualifications to fill this key role in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Victim Witness Coordinator provides a variety of specialized support services to primarily victims and witnesses of adult gross misdemeanor crimes involving domestic violence crimes in accordance with the Crime Victims Act of 1982, balancing team and individual responsibilities with minimal supervision and within established guidelines. Provides victim/witness notification, guidance and information about the legal and restitution processes. Answers questions pertaining to departmental functions and provides information about appropriate community resources for counseling, health and protective services, and Crime Victim’s Compensation. Complies with legal standards and requirements.

Supervisor: Investigation Supervisor

Office hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday

Salary Range: $30.31 - $43.66 (MCBA- Range 150.0)

Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).

We are required by State Law to list the full salary range. As a public entity and in a union-covered position, we are required to make pay decisions based on experience, qualifications, and equity with other employees. Hiring rate typically is limited to entry to mid of the posted salary range, subject to required approvals.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 2 years of progressively responsible experience providing system or community based advocacy services.

OR

  • An Associate's degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 4 years progressively responsible experience providing system or community based advocacy services.

OR

  • High School diploma or GED AND 6 years progressively responsible experience providing system or community based advocacy services.

  • Must be able to type accurately and proficiently with a speed of 60 net words per minute.

  • Must have a background check that meets County criteria and CJIS security.

  • Required to complete advocacy certification at the next available Washington State Victim Assistance Academy after hiring, if certification has not already been attained provided funding is available.
