Video Editor

About Us:
Rocket Launch Studio is a full‑service creative partner helping brands, artists, and mission‑driven organizations share their story with clarity, impact, and polish. From cinematic video production and professional headshots to brand systems and design, we elevate our clients' visions while keeping the process highly organized. We believe in strategy-first creation, organized asset delivery, and making sure our clients look their best.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Video Editor to join our post-production crew. In this role, you will be responsible for culling and editing images from our portrait, headshot, and event sessions. Helping us deliver polished, consistent results to our clients efficiently and on time.

This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to build steady freelance or part-time work within a structured creative team. We are accommodating to schedules and have consistent volume, with the potential for expanded responsibilities as your familiarity with our workflow grows.

Core Responsibilities:
Our video editor is a core part of our delivery pipeline. The work requires creative judgment, technical consistency, and the ability to work within defined systems without constant direction.

Primary Editing Work:

  • Ingest, organize, and sync multi-camera or multi-source footage according to our project folder structure and naming conventions.
  • Rough cut and assembly edit from provided selects or shot lists, building a clean narrative or sequence before notes are given.
  • Perform color correction for exposure consistency and basic Rec.709 output across deliverables.
  • Mix and balance audio to a consistent output standard for social and web delivery.
  • Export final files according to platform specifications (reels, shorts, web, client delivery) with correct codec, resolution, and loudness settings.
  • Handle subtitle and caption integration for social content.

Advanced Retouching (Experience Dependent):

  • Perform color grading on S-Log3 or flat profile footage from Sony cameras targeting Rec.709 output.
  • uild and maintain motion graphics templates (MOGRTs) or lower-third systems in After Effects for reuse across projects.
  • Assist with more complex finishing, sound design, or branded content work as the scope grows.

Qualifications & Core Skills / Experience:
We are open to editors at different experience levels. Responsibility will be matched to your skillset and how you fit into our existing workflow.

  • Software: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is required. After Effects and/or DaVinci Resolve experience is a strong plus.
  • Technical Baseline: You understand exposure, color temperature, audio levels, and frame rates. You do not deliver footage that clips, hums, or goes out of sync without flagging it.
  • Consistency: You can maintain a cohesive look and pacing across a full project without every clip needing individual attention. You work with systems, not guesswork.
  • Communication: Dependable, clear communication. You can flag questions, report progress, and raise issues before they become problems. You understand revision notes without needing them re-explained.
  • Turnaround: You take deadlines seriously and have a realistic sense of your own pace. We would rather have an honest timeline than a missed one.
  • Organization: Comfortable working within a defined folder structure, project template, and delivery workflow. You do not improvise where systems already exist.

If you are organized and have an eye for storytelling and want consistent work within a team that values quality creative work, this is the right environment. If there are any gaps in your experience, we encourage you to apply and share with us what your experience looks like and what you're working towards.

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Remote-friendly workflow
  • On-the-job training and workflow onboarding
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Consistent, recurring volume as we grow
