ABOUT VOURLY
Vourly is a video production company based in the Seattle area that delivers cinematic-quality video content for businesses in construction, real estate, and commercial industries. Our content drives real revenue for real companies. The quality of every edit, every transition, and every caption directly impacts results. We're looking for a skilled video editor to own the post-production process and help us produce content that stands out in a crowded market.
THE ROLE
This is a hybrid position based in the Seattle area. You'll work in-office for collaboration, onboarding, and review sessions, with the flexibility to work from home once you've proven you can deliver consistently and stay productive. This isn't a fully remote gig from day one. We need someone local who can sit down with our team, review footage together, and build a real working relationship before transitioning to a more flexible setup.
If you get genuinely excited about making a 30-second ad feel like a movie trailer, keep reading.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Editing short-form video ads (15-60 seconds) and longer commercial content for social media and paid advertising
- Creating cinematic-quality edits with strong pacing, color grading, motion graphics, and sound design
- Writing and syncing captions/subtitles with zero errors. Spelling, grammar, and timing must be flawless
- Editing real estate walkthroughs, construction progress videos, and business profile content
- Collaborating closely with our videographers and team on creative direction, revisions, and feedback
- Turning around edits quickly without sacrificing quality
- Using AI tools (CapCut, Runway, Descript, or similar) to accelerate your workflow and improve output quality
- Organizing and managing project files, footage libraries, and deliverables
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We need someone who is genuinely passionate about editing. Not someone who applies to every job posting. You should care about the difference between a good cut and a great one.
Must-Haves:
- 2+ years of video editing experience with a strong portfolio (commercial, short-form, or ad work preferred)
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or equivalent professional NLE
- Strong color grading skills. You should know your way around scopes, LUTs, and color correction workflows
- Experience with AI-assisted editing tools and workflows. We don't want someone who "knows about" AI. We want someone who actively uses it to caption, color grade, generate assets, or enhance edits
- Obsessive attention to detail, especially with captions and text overlays. If there's a typo, we'll catch it. If there's a timing mismatch, we'll catch it. This role requires precision
- Clear, professional communication. You'll be working closely with our team daily
- Based in the greater Seattle area. This is a hybrid role that requires in-person availability
- Reliable computer setup capable of handling 4K+ footage and professional editing software
Nice-to-Haves:
- Motion graphics and animation skills (After Effects, Cinema 4D, or similar)
- Sound design experience
- Understanding of direct-response advertising and what makes an ad convert
- Experience editing real estate, construction, or commercial/industrial content
- Experience with Figma or Photoshop for thumbnail and graphic creation
- Familiarity with social media platform specs, aspect ratios, and best practices for each platform
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Pay: Starting at $25-$30/hour based on experience, with room to grow
- Type: Part-time to start (20-30 hours/week), with ability to scale to full-time
- Location: Hybrid. In-office during onboarding and for collaboration sessions, with the ability to work from home once you've demonstrated consistent productivity and quality
- Training: Even experienced editors go through our onboarding. We'll train you on our workflow, file organization standards, brand guidelines, and the specific quality bar our clients expect. You bring the skill. We bring the system
- Tools: We'll provide access to footage, project files, and any paid AI tools or software licenses needed for the role
- Growth: We're building a team. The right person will grow with us into a lead editor, post-production supervisor, or creative lead role
HOW WE WORK
Communication is everything. We use a mix of in-person and async communication, and when we message you, we expect a thoughtful reply. If something is unclear, ask. If you're stuck, speak up. If you disagree with creative direction, tell us why. We want a collaborator, not someone who just says yes to everything.
Quality comes first. We'd rather you take an extra hour to get it right than rush out something mediocre. That said, we expect efficient workflows. If you're spending 3x longer than an edit should take, this isn't the right fit. The best editors we've worked with are fast because they're skilled, not because they cut corners.
THE INTERVIEW PROCESS
If your application stands out, here's what happens next:
1. Portfolio Review - We'll watch your 3 submitted pieces and evaluate your creative style, pacing, attention to detail, and technical quality
2. Video Interview - A short video call to discuss your experience, workflow, availability, and fit
3. Test Edit - If you pass the interview, we'll give you raw footage from a real project. You edit it your way. We're evaluating your creative eye, speed, communication, and how you handle feedback throughout the process
We're not looking for someone who copies our existing style. We want to see what YOU bring to the table. The test edit is your chance to show us.
HOW TO APPLY
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: To help us identify candidates who actually read this full posting rather than copy-pasting a generic application, please include Vourly_2026_Editor as the very first line of your application message. Applications missing this will be deprioritized, as it tells us you may not pay close attention to details - and detail is everything in this role.
Send us:
1. A brief introduction: who you are, your editing background, and why this role interests you
2. What editing software you use and how many years of experience you have with each
3. Links to your top 3 favorite pieces of work. These should be projects you're genuinely proud of. We want to see YOUR creative style, not just technically clean edits. Show us what makes your work different
4. What AI tools you currently use in your editing workflow and specifically how they improve your output
5. Your current work situation: freelancing, employed, or between roles?
6. Your availability (hours per week) and location within the Seattle area
We're excited to find the right person for this. If you love editing, care about quality, and want to grow with a company that values your craft - we want to hear from you.
Pay: $25.36 - $30.54 per hour
