Job Description:

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) is seeking two highly skilled and experienced individuals to join the Video Surveillance team at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). The chosen candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. All CIU positions are assigned under Central Office (CO) and are tasked to support specific facilities. All CIU positions are subject to respond to any NDCS facility for intelligence support.

DUTIES

• Monitor incarcerated individuals primarily through video surveillance systems, but also via phone, mail, and video visits for potential threats.

• Provide safety overwatch, engage with staff for situational awareness, and respond to threats identified on cameras.

• Document inmate behavior, status, and movement observed on surveillance to enforce facility regulations.

• Provide and evaluate on-the-job training for new analysts.

• Work with the intelligence team to prioritize tasks, gather video intelligence, and understand threat indicators and cultural trends.

• Be available to respond to any NDCS facility for emergency intelligence operations.
  

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age; high school education or equivalent; valid driver's license; and must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of two years correctional experience. Experience working with video surveillance systems and communication equipment. Experience in identifying threats and trends in a correctional setting. Experience or knowledge of both street and prison gangs. Experience in assessing threat potential, gathering intelligence, communicating responses of others in the threat environment in a correctional setting. Experience in documenting specific actions and contributing factors in response to threats or incidents.

Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Central Intelligence Unit (CIU ) team members may be required to work after hours in support of facility emergencies or provide coverage at other facilities. Background checks and reference checks will be conducted prior to offer. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program to include CPR, first aid, firearms, and self-defense tactics.
