The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is NYC’s longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 30 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell.


About the Video Technician BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival Role:


BRIC seeks a Video Technician who will work as part of a production team committed to high-level production values and safety and who will contribute to a positive artist, audience, and staff experience. The Video Technician is responsible for the installation, and operation of the video and visual special effects used in the production.


What You’ll Do in the Role:


The Video Technician will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Production Supervisor:

Responsibilities include:

  • Install, transport, operate and strike seasonal video and camera rental package and equipment
  • Evaluate and maintain video and camera equipment
  • Manage production of live video, slide show, artist artwork, roll in graphics and any other video event production, switching, directing, graphics and audio.
  • Serve as point of contact for production team as it relates to screen content and schedule festival wide
  • Assist in approval processes for screen content both pre show and during festival hours
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisor in the successful display methodologies, timings, and other creative arrangements based on capabilities of screen surfaces

Physical Demands:

  • Working in the outdoors including heat, humidity and inclement weather
  • Climbing ladders, lifting up to 20 lbs or more.

  • Experience & Qualifications:
    • At least 2-years of experience as a theater/concert Video Technician
    • Must be able to operate video switcher, audio board, graphics, video playback, during a live event
    • Must be able to make in-the-moment decisions that benefit the live audience experience and support messaging goals
    • Education background in Live Video Production, Communications or related field desired
    • Must be energized by a fast-paced, collaborative, creative team environment where last-minute changes of direction and high levels of multitasking are common
  • Communication & Relationship Building: A highly skilled communicator who is a team player and can support the achievement of team goals.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.


Other Things to Know:


  • Compensation: The salary for this position is $30/hr.
  • Status and location: This is a seasonal role based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park.
  • General Schedule:
    • Load In: May 4th - June 3rd (Monday-Friday 8 hours/ day)
    • BCBF Season: June 4th - September 19th (exact dates to be determined Approximately 10-14 hours/ day)
    • Load Out: September 21st - October 3rd (12 days, 8 hours/ day)
