Lead Architect - Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure
Role Purpose
The Lead Architect is responsible for the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise-grade virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). This role focuses on building highly available, "Active-Active" data center architectures that bridge on-premises resources with multi-cloud environments. You will provide technical leadership for software-defined networking (SDN), disaster recovery, and unified infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Strategy & Design
-
Design and maintain architectural standards for enterprise virtualisation with a focus on modern Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
-
Define blueprints for compute, storage, and software-defined networking (SDN) to ensure global scalability and performance.
-
Lead architecture reviews to ensure all infrastructure aligns with enterprise security and operational standards.
Platform Leadership & HCI Operations
-
Direct the deployment and optimisation of advanced virtualisation clusters and centralised management planes.
-
Provide hands-on expertise in cluster design, automated lifecycle management, and non-disruptive upgrades.
-
Ensure maximum utilisation and health of all core infrastructure components.
Resiliency & Business Continuity
-
Architect and operate "Active-Active" multi-datacenter environments to ensure zero-downtime services.
-
Implement sophisticated disaster recovery (DR) solutions using synchronous and asynchronous replication.
-
Lead regular business continuity testing and documentation for mission-critical systems.
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) & Security
-
Design and manage SDN solutions to provide secure micro-segmentation and resilient traffic flow.
-
Apply "Zero Trust" and "Defence in Depth" principles at the hypervisor and network layers.
Candidate Qualifications
-
Experience:
8-10 years in enterprise virtualisation and high-scale infrastructure environments.
-
HCI Expertise:
Expert-level knowledge of Hyperconverged Infrastructure (AOS/AHV environments) and centralised management tools.
-
Architecture:
Proven experience designing "Metro Clusters" and Active-Active data center sites.
-
Network & Security:
Strong background in software-defined networking and infrastructure-level security controls.
-
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
-
Certifications:
Professional-level virtualisation certifications (e.g., Nutanix NCP/NCM or equivalent) and SDN certifications are highly preferred.
