Ophthalmic technicians at UAB Callahan Eye Clinics function as vision assistants, playing a key role in providing high quality vision care. Primary responsibilities include assisting with eye exams, performing technical workups, documenting medical history, preparing and/or administering medications, and providing assistance during minor procedures. The ideal candidate for this entry-level clinic assistant role has a keen attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. UAB Callahan Eye Clinics offer ongoing training and development opportunities for career growth through a structured path, which includes support to assist you in obtaining relevant certifications to advance your career. The shift for this full-time opportunity is Monday through Friday with a schedule that varies per clinic (examples include 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Performs ophthalmic duties and exams. Maintains equipment and supplies. Trains technicians and assists in the management and coordination of daily operations to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow. Performs special testing as requested by the physician. Performs general clerical functions
