Vision Clinic Assistant - Ambulatory Clinic - Callahan Eye - Multiple Shifts

Position Overview

Pay range: $17.10 - $27.80 / hour

Shifts: full-time AM

Schedules: Between 7:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.

Job Highlights

Ophthalmic technicians at UAB Callahan Eye Clinics function as vision assistants, playing a key role in providing high quality vision care. Primary responsibilities include assisting with eye exams, performing technical workups, documenting medical history, preparing and/or administering medications, and providing assistance during minor procedures. The ideal candidate for this entry-level clinic assistant role has a keen attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. The shift for this full-time opportunity is Monday through Friday with a schedule that varies per clinic (examples include 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Job Description

Performs ophthalmic duties and exams. Maintains equipment and supplies. Trains technicians and assists in the management and coordination of daily operations to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow. Performs special testing as requested by the physician. Performs general clerical functions

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Currently certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology preferred.
