The School of Art + Design includes highly ranked national programs in Art and Design and is part of the College of Fine Arts. The academic areas of Interior Architecture and Graphic Design comprise the formal design education components of the school. We seek a dynamic, engaged, and collaborative individual with strong leadership skills.
The College of Fine Arts and the School of Art + Design at Ohio University invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, one-year appointment Visiting Professor position to teach, design, and implement all levels of undergraduate interior architecture studio and lecture courses for the rapidly growing Interior Architecture program. This job may be renewable up to three years. An individual is sought with a strong interest understanding and teaching capacity to effectively transmit knowledge to students:
- Introduction to the field
- Basic through advanced instruction in REVIT & other CAD methodologies
- Construction documents
- Planning for and achieving conceptual grasp and skills of building systems— structural, plumbing, HVAC and waste streams
- Scholarly research methodologies their practice and dissemination
- Ability to oversee comprehensive student BFA thesis work.
- The successful candidate(s) also should have an interest in interdisciplinary engagement with other disciplines across the School of Art + Design and the College of Fine Arts areas across the university, such as programs within Visual Communications, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Business.
The position is responsible for developing an innovative teaching curriculum inclusive of the application of evidence-based design to improve people’s lives through human-centered design while addressing critical social issues such as health, well-being, sustainability, etc. The successful candidate(s) must demonstrate strength in strategic communication, with high-level organizational and interpersonal skills. We seek a candidate(s) with a commitment to effectively working with all levels of students, faculty, and staff. Also, we seek a candidate who will work successfully in coordination with School, College, and University initiatives. The position begins August 16, 2026.
The successful candidate(s) responsibilities include teaching a course load commensurate with job responsibilities throughout the academic year and will serve effectively in recruiting and mentoring students. Teaching emphasis is in undergraduate interior architecture studio and lecture courses across existing and new curriculum in Interior Architecture including extensive use of Revit. They must also be able to work with program faculty in developing courses as outlined by the School, including revisions of in-person and online courses. Service focus upon internship opportunity and placements nationwide but also including participation on School, College and/or University Committees may be required. Assistance with program administration, auxiliary programs, and with community engagement and cross-college initiatives is expected.
