Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Visual Art Instructor to join our academic team in a part-time hybrid teaching role. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in visual arts education and experience teaching middle or high school-level art courses, including drawing, painting, digital media, and art history. This position offers the flexibility to teach both in-person and online, empowering students to explore creativity, technique, and artistic expression through a variety of media.

Candidates familiar with hybrid or fully online instructional methods, and who are skilled in designing interactive, student-centered learning experiences, are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in Visual Arts through live classes and asynchronous learning on platforms such as Canvas or Google Classroom.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced techniques in drawing, painting, digital art, and mixed media, fostering both creative exploration and technical mastery.
  • Introduce students to essential concepts in art history, critique, and visual analysis to strengthen their artistic understanding.
  • Encourage creative expression while guiding students in portfolio development and preparation for advanced study or professional opportunities.
  • Provide individualized feedback and assess student learning through projects, critiques, and presentations, supporting continuous artistic growth.
  • Track attendance, participation, and academic progress, maintaining consistent communication with students and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum and contribute to interdisciplinary art and design initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Visual Arts Education, or a related field.
● Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a U.S. middle school or high school setting.
● Experience teaching studio art or visual art in either in-person, hybrid, or virtual formats.
● Proficiency with digital tools for online instruction (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, Google Workspace).
● Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Preferred:
● Valid teaching credential or certification in Art or related subject.
● Experience supporting students in preparing portfolios for high school or college art programs.
● Familiarity with AP Art and Design curriculum.
● Passion for nurturing artistic talent and encouraging creative exploration.

Schedule

  • Class hours are scheduled between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
