Visual Designer IV

The Cross-Company Visual Systems team is seeking a Visual Designer with strong expertise in icon system design and asset production to join a central product organization supporting the company's brand in product. This team creates, maintains, and evolves the visual systems that define the brand in product surfaces.

A designer in this role demonstrates comfort with collaboration and provides a strong creative point of view. The ideal candidate is a multi-faceted, innovative problem-solver, possessing an eye for outstanding creative and pixel-perfect work, and the ability to deliver and launch initiatives on time and in alignment with strategic goals. Deep expertise in Communication Design is essential, along with adaptability to various styles and mediums and experience working within product environments.

As a Visual Designer on the Cross-Company Visual Systems team, you will play an essential role in shaping the visual identity of the company's experiences through iconography and visual expression. You will collaborate closely with art directors, producers, product designers, production designers, and cross-functional teams to:- Create new icons based on existing styles and systems- Maintain and update iconography through documentation and asset production- Ensure consistent brand expression and a seamless user experience across visual assets

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with designers to understand goals and deliver high-quality iconography and visual assets
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and delivery of individual icons and icon libraries (UI, product, feature icons) across multiple sizes, weights, and themes, including workflows for exporting, naming, versioning, and asset delivery
  • Develop pixel-perfect, grid-aligned icons by exploring universally recognized visual metaphors and adapting them to consistently reflect the company’s brand identity and system guidelines
  • Extend and document icon standards, usage rules, and do/don't guidance in partnership with design leads
  • Develop and articulate clear ideas, concepts, and designs for creative assets from concept through execution
  • Translate product needs into visually compelling, intuitive, and emotionally engaging designs
  • Manage and incorporate feedback from partners and stakeholders
  • Provide and solicit constructive feedback to continually elevate design quality

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience in graphic/visual design, production design, and applications across web, desktop, and mobile (iOS + Android)
  • Proven experience designing and implementing icon systems at scale for large products or services
  • Proven experience exploring metaphors to bring clarity to complex concepts and aid comprehension for a global audience
  • Expert-level proficiency with creative and production tools such as Figma (libraries, components, variables/styles, asset prep/export workflows), Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, G Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong understanding of vector construction, grid systems, optical alignment, and accessibility considerations (contrast, clarity at small sizes)
  • Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and quality
  • Exceptional craftsmanship with strong attention to detail and passion for visual design
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize effectively, and manage time well
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to articulate design direction to both artists and non-artists
  • Up-to-date knowledge of visual design technologies and industry trends

Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working on or contributing to a design system- Understanding of design-to-dev handoff practices and QA in production environments- Familiarity with 3D design and motion/animation is a plus
