Job Summary:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
This position will Work directly with the National Voluntary Services Management team in order to provide programmatic support for the Voluntary Services Department.

Essential Functions:
  • Work directly with the National Voluntary Services Management team in order to provide programmatic support for the Voluntary Services Department
  • Collect, monitor, and maintain volunteer data for reliability and validity
  • Support, motivate, and accredit volunteers for work
  • Communicate and offer information to volunteers, external organizations, and corporations through face-to-face interaction, telephone, correspondence and email contact
  • Communicate with volunteers, fraternal members, external organizations, and corporations through face-to-face interaction, telephone, correspondence and email contact in order to receive and maintain volunteer data
  • Behave in a professional manner at all times while reflecting and maintaining the values and ethics of the organization in order to keep a positive image of DAV
  • Produce accurate and detailed work
  • When related to the role, anticipate potential issues or risks that may affect the activities of volunteers and take appropriate action to ensure that these issues are alleviated or minimized
  • Prepare documents and correspondence
  • Assist with creating and maintaining electronic files
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by management

Program Specific Functions:

Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP):
  • Work with the IT, Voluntary Services and Procurement staff, as well as outside vendors to ensure timely and accurate reporting of Volunteer Incentive Awards
  • Ensure timely processing of Incentive Award files to DAV volunteers, as well as the data import from our third party vendor with shipment and invoice information
  • Communicate directly with DAV Department and Chapter Leadership to ensure timely and accurate reporting of LVAP hours, as well as answer any questions that leadership and volunteers may have regarding the program itself
  • Ensure accurate reporting from DAV department and chapter leadership , including reviewing and committing hours to the BB CRM

VA Voluntary Services (VAVS):
  • Communicate directly with DAV Representatives and VA leadership to ensure timely and accurate reporting of VAVS hours, as well as answer any questions that leadership and volunteers may have regarding the program itself
  • Review and process Annual Joint Reviews for VAVS Representatives

Volunteer for Veterans Program:
  • Maintain, review, and respond to inquiries for assistance from Veterans through the website
  • Maintain contact with the veteran and volunteers through email or by phone to facilitate the completion of the request
  • Maintain, review, and respond to inquiries entered through the Volunteer for Veterans website
  • Answer any questions from DAV Department and Chapter leadership regarding the Volunteer for Veterans platform

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and administer multiple concurrent projects
  • Data entry experience required
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Must detail oriented
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Degree of Supervision:
  • No Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Physical Demands: Job requires sitting up to eight hours a day and standing two to four hours a day. Body movement primarily in hand and arm functions associated with normal office activities. Hand and eye coordination and hand dexterity is required for handwriting and keyboarding over prolonged periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires occasional lifting and/or carrying of no more than 25 pounds, and bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
