Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and rescue calls within the community.
- Operate firefighting equipment, including hoses, ladders, and ventilation tools, to contain and extinguish fires effectively.
- Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS), including CPR and vital signs assessment, to stabilize patients until advanced help arrives.
- Assist with vehicle extrication and heavy lifting during rescue operations while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct routine inspections of fire stations, equipment, and emergency vehicles to ensure readiness at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and emergency responders to coordinate safe evacuation procedures and incident management.
- Maintain detailed incident reports, equipment logs, and safety documentation following each call or drill.
Skills
- Prior experience or training in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) procedures is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and basic life support (BLS) is required or preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or ability to obtain one for driving fire apparatus is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge for maintaining firefighting tools and emergency vehicles.
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and endurance for extended shifts in demanding environments.
- Ability to assess vital signs accurately and respond appropriately during medical emergencies.
- Strong teamwork skills with excellent communication abilities under pressure.
