Volunteer Firefighter/EMT-B

Summary

South Pierce Fire and Rescue and Riverside Fire and Rescue are hiring for a joint fire academy beginning this August.

As a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT, you will be instrumental in providing emergency medical services and fire response to the community. Join our dedicated team and make a significant impact in ensuring public safety and health.

Description

All volunteers will be provided an all tuition-and-cost paid basic Fire Training Academy that will result in the opportunity to test for IFSAC Firefighter 1/Hazardous Materials Operations. The Academy will begin in August and last approximately 5 months. The Department will then facilitate placement into an EMT course, through a local college or training facility, if you do not yet have an EMT-B certification.

During your time at the Fire Department you will have the opportunity to respond to all emergency calls including Fire, EMS, Technical Rescue, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and many more. In addition to calls, volunteers can participate in other Fire Department operations such as advanced certifications training, station and equipment maintenance, public education, and fire prevention. Volunteers can hold all positions within the department to include Firefighter, EMT, Driver/Operator, and rank promotions.

This is a volunteer position. However, in addition to department-paid Academy, a stipend is offered for all department activities to help reimburse for gas and food expenses. Other training opportunities are also available dependent on schedule, role, and need. Volunteers may receive additional compensation for items such as uniforms and physical testing.
