United Commonwealth Bank is in search of a VP Credit/Portfolio Manager. This position is responsible for gathering, analyzing and evaluating credit information and the financial condition of loan applicants within the framework of Bank guidelines and current economic and industry trends. Will also assist in performing pre-qualification assessments and analysis of the risk associated with loan applicants as well as evaluating the ongoing risk assessments for current commercial loans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed reports addressing the portfolio requirements, partnering with lenders and credit analysts to obtain information and manage exceptions
  • Analyze new, renewal and existing loans and risk exposures utilizing various financial statements, credit reports, tax returns and other sources as applicable
  • Complete credit packages that demonstrate concise analysis that identifies key risks and provides for appropriate mitigation, where appropriate
  • Complete credit risk tasks which may include but not limited to loan documentation review and closings, appraisal and collateral reviews, real estate evaluations and construction risk monitoring
  • Work closely with management and other team members to effectively prioritize commercial credit requests
  • Assist with managing commercial construction loans and projects which includes approval of loans, overseeing draw requests and disbursements and ensuring loan compliance
  • Monitor upcoming maturities and work with lending/credit staff to manage the information required
  • Maintain portfolio management, credit and lending procedures and all related forms in a current and usable manner
  • Assist with structuring, underwriting and presenting loan requests and renewals in accordance with internal policies and procedures
  • Ensure required data is gathered from customers, internal and external sources
  • Communicate when up-to-date financial statements are needed for commercial accounts, ensure credit inquires and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved
  • Conduct industry peer comparisons
  • Correspond with legal counsel and collectors regarding workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken
  • Develop knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition
  • Attend loan committee meetings as requested
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels by proactively participating and contributing to a positive work environment, controlling emotions and temperament, and exhibiting courteous, respectful, and professional behavior at all times
  • Maintain familiarity with bank products and services
  • Maintain familiarity with all regulatory standards
  • Maintain familiarity with and uphold all Bank policies and procedures including policies and procedures related to this position
  • Complete all training requirements as assigned
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Computer Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of commercial credit analyst experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance or equivalent work experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Previous experience in financial statement and tax return analysis
  • Previous experience structuring and underwriting multiple commercial credit types preferred, including CRE, C&I, and Agricultural
  • Basic knowledge of commercial, construction, and real estate and consumer loan processing
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and comprehend the level of confidentiality that comes along with the position and protecting employee’s, customer’s and bank information
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to manage and execute more than one task at a time
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to work situations
  • Ability to independently perform duties, establish priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to adhere to safety and compliance regulations and procedures

Attendance Requirements:

Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided.

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
