Overview:
The Vice President of Finance must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature, and Efficient in how they approach their role at Green Brick Partners.
The VP Finance is a key strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the captive mortgage lender for Green Brick Partners and its homebuilder brands. This executive drives financial planning, forecasting, accounting integrity, loan profitability analysis, warehouse facility management, and regulatory financial reporting. The VP Finance ensures the mortgage company operates with strong financial discipline while aligning with Green Brick Partners’ broader strategic and operational objectives, including capture rate targets, margin optimization, and customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead financial strategy for the mortgage entity, ensuring alignment with the parent homebuilder’s corporate goals.

Provide executive leadership on profitability, capital allocation, liquidity, and long‑range financial planning.

Own annual financial budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly and quarterly performance reporting.

Analyze loan profitability, gain‑on‑sale margins, and loan mix to support margin optimization.

Develop KPIs and dashboards for loan production, pull‑through, costs per loan, and operational efficiency.

Oversee all accounting functions including GL, AP, loan-level accounting, and month‑end close.

Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and mortgage‑industry standards.

Manage audit processes (internal and external), including QC findings that require financial adjustment.

Manage warehouse lines, borrowing bases, covenants, facility renewals, and banking relationships.

Monitor daily loan funding capacity, liquidity positions, and capital usage.

Work with VP Operations to optimize warehouse utilization to support production volume and reduce interest carry.

Collaborate with VP Capital Markets to understand pricing, pipeline risk, and hedging strategies.

Ensure financial accuracy of loan sale settlements, and investor purchase trends.

Partner with compliance team to ensure financial alignment with federal and state mortgage regulations.

Oversee financial components of NMLS reporting, state exams, and annual mortgage licensing requirements.

Ensure proper handling of escrow, impound accounts, and first‑payment servicing.

Collaborate with the homebuilder’s leadership to maximize capture rates and referral conversion.

Provide financial insights on new communities, incentive structures, and buyer affordability.

Participate in product development, pricing strategies, and technology system enhancements.

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.

Build a high‑performance culture focused on accuracy, accountability, and service to the business.

Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Qualifications:
Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including mortgage banking experience.

Strong understanding of mortgage accounting, warehouse line management, and loan‑level financials.

Expertise in GAAP and mortgage‑industry regulatory requirements.

Proven experience in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and executive reporting.

Demonstrated leadership ability in a high‑volume mortgage environment.
Preferred

CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced certification.

Experience in a captive mortgage environment or broader residential homebuilding industry.

Familiarity with Encompass LOS, Encompass BI, IBM Planning Analytics and Loan Vision.
