Wait Staff/Server

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Server to join our small team here at Shokudo Hoboken, a cozy full-service Japanese ramen restaurant and bar!

Our 2 server shifts are as follows: 11 AM to 11 PM or 4 PM to 11 PM. Applicants MUST be available for these shifts, as well as most weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and present menus in a friendly manner.
• Promptly and politely answer calls for pick-up orders.
• Take accurate food and drink orders using a cash register or point-of-sale system. (Currently using the Figure platform.)
• Serve food and beverages promptly and presentably.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of orders.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations regarding food handling and sanitation practices.
• Manage time effectively to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
• Hand-wash delicate glassware, organize service stations, and replenish any utensils, plates or drinkware during off-peak hours.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of cash register operation and basic math skills for processing transactions.
• Understanding of food safety practices and culinary standards.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple tables efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on guest services.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift items as needed in a fast-paced setting.
• Familiarity with proper food-handling protocols and ability to adhere to food safety rules. ServSafe certification (or equivalent) preferred.
• The ability to speak and understand English is a must. Proficiency in a second language is a plus, but not required.
• Must be over 18 or older to serve alcohol on premises. Previous bartending experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
