Job Description


We're looking for a talented Water/Wastewater - People Leader, to join our engineering team in New England. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for mechanical engineering initiatives while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

In this role, you will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, ensuring project delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of technical quality and performance. This is a people leadership role where individuals should possess:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams

This is an opportunity to work with a Global Center of Technical Excellence, involved in the cutting edge in the use of AI for engineering design.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Develop and implement mechanical engineering strategies and best practices aligned with organizational objectives
  • Oversee the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems and components using advanced CAD and simulation tools
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and customer requirements
  • Conduct technical reviews and design audits to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing disciplines to drive integrated product development
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges through analytical problem-solving and innovative engineering solutions
  • Establish and maintain documentation, procedures, and knowledge management systems for the mechanical engineering discipline
  • Represent the mechanical engineering function in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in mechanical engineering practices

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering design, analysis, or systems development related to water/wastewater treatment.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or equivalent
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Experience in product design, systems engineering, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams
  • Project management experience with demonstrated ability to deliver results on schedule and within budget
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management
