Wayfinding & Environmental Senior Designer
At Via Collective, we don’t just design spaces; we create experiences that inspire, guide, and connect people. As a Wayfinding & Environmental Senior Designer you'll have the opportunity to shape how people interact with their environment, while also helping to mentor and support a growing team of talented designers.
Key Responsibilities
- Wayfinding Design Leadership: You’ll bring your expertise in design fundamentals, drawing standards, and wayfinding strategy to lead the development of clear, engaging, and impactful wayfinding solutions. Your work will transform how people experience spaces, creating intuitive journeys that enhance their interactions.
- Leadership & Mentorship: As a senior designer, you will be responsible for nurturing the development of junior team members. You’ll help cultivate a culture of learning and excellence, ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standard from start to finish.
- Project Ownership: Drive project execution with a sense of ownership, ensuring the highest quality deliverables. You'll collaborate across teams with clear and fluent communication, while strategically mapping out project goals and consistently delivering best-in-class results. Working across teams and with external partners, you will ensure that each deliverable meets the vision and objectives of the project, always striving for precision and excellence.
- Strategic Vision: Develop and contribute to the bigger picture, employing your ability to plan, design, and execute strategic wayfinding systems that align with the client’s vision and our firm’s values. Your capacity for big-picture thinking will drive both internal and external success.
- Collaboration & Communication: Seamless collaboration is key to what we do. As a strong communicator, you’ll partner with internal teams and external collaborators, fostering long-term partnerships and delivering consistent project excellence. Your ability to drive results while maintaining a harmonious and positive working environment is a key component of success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design
- 7-10 years of experience
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously, staying on schedule and on budget, and ensuring efficient alignment of team resources.
- Strong comprehension of architectural drawings and organizing principles of architectural drawing sets
- Comprehension of wayfinding strategies and the ability to interpret messaging and direction through signage design and location
- Well-informed of all municipal and building code requirements for projects
- Passion for great design with the ability to be stylistically flexible
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work with a team through transparent, respectful, and immediate communication efforts ensuring frequent workflow updates and file overlap.
Requirements
- Knowledge of signage fabrication means, methods, and tolerances
- Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, and user experience design.
- High-level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat), and Microsoft Office required.
- Ability to design three-dimensionally and articulate design-intent
- Strong work ethic, with demonstrated efficiency, flexibility, and a positive spirit.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies to maintain the company’s competitive edge.
