Web Application Developer

The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Math foundation programs.


IUK IT Department is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Web Application Developer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining web applications that support the university's faculty, staff, and students.


Responsibilities:

  • Building websites, internal university tools, and research-oriented applications supporting projects using a variety of programming languages and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java).
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Ensure web applications are responsive, user-friendly, and accessible across different devices and browsers.
  • Troubleshoot and fix bugs in existing web applications.
  • Develop low-code/no-code solutions using Microsoft Power Apps to improve internal processes and workflows.
  • Automate tasks and data flow between applications using Microsoft Power Automate.
  • May assist with content management for university websites.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders: Work with Admin staff, faculty members, researchers, students, and IT staff to understand their needs and translate them into functional applications.
  • Maintaining existing applications: Keeping existing university web applications updated, secure, and bug-free.
  • Learning and experimenting with new technologies: Staying up to date with the latest web development trends and tools.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience):
  • An extensive experience (see below) can substitute.


Experience

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience developing web applications: Hands-on experience building web applications is essential. This experience should showcase your ability to take projects from concept to completion.


Technical Skills

  • Front-End Development: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js) is essential.
  • Back-End Development: Proficiency in .NET, C#, Python is mandatory, server-side technologies like PHP, or Java can be valuable, but might not be mandatory for all projects.
  • Database Management: Familiarity with database systems like MS SQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Version Control Systems: Using Git for version control and collaboration is crucial for managing code effectively.

  • Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving technical issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Being able to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with various stakeholders in projects.
