Job Description – Welder/Fabricator

Pay range: £45,000 - £60,000 (Based on skills and overtime.)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our new plant, carrying out high-quality fabrication and welding work, supporting maintenance activities, and contributing to continuous improvement across the operation.

  • Average 45hr week with overtime available, flexibility required for holiday/sickness cover.

Duties

  • Carry out welding and fabrication work to a high standard in line with drawings and specifications
  • Fabricate metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to meet detailed specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to guide fabrication processes.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished products, ensuring they meet industry standards and client requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist in the assembly of fabricated parts into final products or structures as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes involving sheet metal and structural components.
  • Competence with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance activities in collaboration with the wider team
  • Assist in identifying problem areas and opportunities for process improvement
  • Perform repairs and modifications to plant, machinery, and equipment
  • Liaise with contractors and subcontractors as required
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Respond promptly to equipment faults or breakdowns, carrying out repairs where possible
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication (MIG/TIG/Stick as applicable)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
  • Commitment to quality and safe working practices

Desirable / Advantageous:

  • Basic mechanical maintenance skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment
  • Knowledge of pneumatics or hydraulic systems
  • Experience assisting with machinery installation or repair
  • Any electrical knowledge or fault-finding capability

This role would suit someone with a practical, team-focused approach, who is confident in their welding and fabrication abilities but also willing to support wider plant maintenance tasks when needed. A flexible, can-do attitude and a willingness to get involved across multiple areas of the operation will be highly valued.
