Who We Want

Miller Industries is seeking a Welding Inspector for our 1st Shift in Fenton, Michigan. The hours are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with overtime as required for production on weekends. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the integrity and quality of our production processes, aligning with AWS D1.1 standards. This role requires active supervision of operations including cutting, punching, and welding, with a focus on GMAW Spray Transfer techniques.

What You Will Be Doing

Conduct comprehensive inspections and assessments of manufacturing activities, including part alignment and visual evaluations.
Guarantee adherence to welding standards and documentations, specifically AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
Facilitate welder certification tests, including minor destructive evaluations.
Develop and manage comprehensive records and reports related to welding qualifications and process compliance.
Ensure operational efficiency and compliance by examining welding equipment arrangements daily.
Analyze fabrication blueprints and incorporate them into quality check procedures.
Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the company's Quality Assurance initiatives.
Occasional travel may be required.

What Requirements Are Needed

Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of hands-on welding experience.
High school diploma required, with a preference for advanced education, CWI preferred.
Extensive understanding of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code and manufacturing processes is essential.
Expertise in maintaining detailed documentation, inspections, and quality control.
Proficient in MS Office and adept at leveraging technology for documentation.
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical & Mental Requirements

Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties. Required to frequently lift and move 10-50 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
