Responsibilities

• Safely drive nursing home residents to and from medical appointments and activities in the company owned wheelchair van or bus.
• Assist nursing home residents in safely entering and exiting wheelchair van or bus using the wheelchair lift.
• Assist nursing home residents in wheelchairs with navigating to the waiting area of the medical appointment. This may include sitting with the nursing home resident until they are called back to their appointment.
• After a resident’s medical appointment, deliver any paperwork from the medical appointment back to the nursing home. This may include information on new medications or test results from the medical appointment.
• If a follow up medical appointment is requested at a doctor’s office, look at the schedule and pick an available transportation date.
• Maintain the company vehicle by taking it for routine service and refilling it with fuel using the company accounts.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Should possess good judgment, be observant and provide professional communication.
• Assigned to work in the Housekeeping/Laundry Department when not transporting residents. If CNA, options for part time driver or CNA assignment for full time benefits.
• Maintain nursing home resident confidentiality and promote resident rights.
• Moderate physical effort required during part of the work shift. Must be capable of bending, squatting and lifting. Must be capable of pushing a nursing home resident in a wheelchair (approximately 350 pounds).
• Must have the ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean driving record with an F endorsement.

Qualifications

• Clean driving record with current/valid Tennessee Driver’s License with an F Endorsement.
• Must be able to pass routine DOT physical and drug screens.
• Must be capable of pushing a nursing home resident in a wheelchair (approximately 350 pounds).
• Desire to work with elderly and disabled nursing home residents.
