We are currently hiring entry-level contract Wildland Firefighters who are hungry to learn, ready to work hard, and serious about starting a career in wildland fire. No prior firefighting experience is required — we are looking for the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to follow direction.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Contract Wildland Firefighter, you will be expected to perform physically demanding and high-responsibility work in challenging outdoor environments. This position requires discipline, teamwork, and the ability to follow direction at all times.

Primary Duties

  • Participate in required In-Person training sessions and field exercises every Saturday and Sunday
  • Construct and improve fireline using hand tools and equipment
  • Assist in wildfire suppression, mop-up, and patrol operations
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, hoses, pumps, and other fire equipment
  • Follow crew leadership direction and adhere to the chain of command
  • Maintain situational awareness and comply with all safety standards
  • Perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods in rugged terrain
  • Work long hours in variable and extreme weather conditions
  • Maintain personal gear and ensure readiness for assignments

Qualifications

  • EMT experience or certification is highly desirable for emergency medical response capabilities (But not required)
  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles and mechanical equipment safely; valid CDL license is a plus but not required
  • A decent level of physical strength for heavy lifting, carrying gear, hiking, and working in rugged outdoor environments for extended period of time.
  • Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions, often in remote locations with limited amenities, including no cell phone service

  • Work effectively as part of a crew in high-stress environments
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and teammates
  • Maintain a positive, disciplined attitude on and off the fireline
  • Show up on time, prepared, and physically ready for work
  • Represent the company professionally during training and fire assignments

Physical & Environmental Expectations

  • Hike long distances over uneven terrain/steep hills while carrying equipment
  • Perform repetitive manual labor for extended periods
  • Work in smoke, heat, dust, and inclement weather
  • Remain alert and responsive during dynamic fire conditions
