WordPress Developer (with strong Linux skills)

Full job description

Build, optimize, and maintain high-quality WordPress sites while owning deployment and operations on Linux servers (LEMP/LAMP).

You’ll ship features, keep sites fast and secure, and automate everything you can.

What you’ll do

Develop custom themes and plugins (OOP PHP, WordPress APIs).

Administer Linux servers (Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS): SSH, CLI, file perms, users, systemd, cron.

Configure and tune web stacks: Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, OPCache, MySQL/MariaDB.

Set up and manage environments (dev/stage/prod), CI/CD, and zero-downtime deploys.

Performance work: profiling, caching (page/object/Redis), CDN, image optimization.

Security hardening: updates, least-privilege, WAF/CDN rules, SSL/TLS, backups & restore tests.

Troubleshoot production issues (logs, metrics) and write clear postmortems.

Maintain IaC/automation scripts (Bash; bonus for Ansible/Terraform).

Collaborate with design/content, review PRs, and document decisions.

Must-have qualifications

2+ years professional WordPress development (themes + plugins) using PHP 8.x.

Solid Linux admin skills: comfortable living in the terminal.

Strong MySQL/MariaDB knowledge: schema design, slow-query analysis, migrations.

Web server expertise: Nginx/Apache config, redirects/rewrite rules, caching layers.

Proficiency with Git, GitHub/GitLab flows, and WP-CLI/Composer.

Front-end fundamentals: HTML5, CSS/Sass, modern JS, build tools (Vite/Webpack).

Understanding of security best practices (OWASP basics, input/output sanitization, nonce/CSRF).
