WordPress Developer (with strong Linux skills) – Remote

About the Role

We’re seeking a WordPress Developer experienced in Linux server administration to join our remote team full-time.
You’ll be responsible for developing high-quality WordPress sites, optimizing performance, securing environments, and managing web infrastructure.

Tech Stack

  • WordPress, PHP 8.x
  • Linux (Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS)
  • Nginx / Apache
  • MySQL / MariaDB
  • Git, WP-CLI, Composer
  • HTML5, CSS/Sass, JavaScript (Vite/Webpack)

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Manage Linux servers (SSH, users, permissions, cron, logs)
  • Configure Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, OPCache, and MySQL/MariaDB
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments
  • Optimize site performance (caching, Redis, CDN, images)
  • Implement security best practices (SSL, WAF, backups)
  • Troubleshoot production issues and document fixes
  • Automate workflows using Bash (Ansible/Terraform a plus)

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional WordPress development experience (themes + plugins)
  • Strong Linux command-line and server administration skills
  • Proficient with MySQL/MariaDB optimization and web server tuning
  • Familiar with Git and CI/CD tools
  • Front-end basics (HTML5, CSS/Sass, JS build tools)
  • Understanding of WordPress security best practices

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Ansible or Terraform
  • Familiarity with Redis and CDN setups
  • Image optimization pipelines
