POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of the WordPress Web Developer / UI Designer is to meet or surpass clients’ expectations with their company website needs. This position handles most web design and development projects, from defining project scope to creating sitemaps and frameworks, visual elements, and testing, all within budget and deadlines for both internal and external customers. The WordPress Web Developer / UI Designer will be involved in the growth and profitability of Lumen Creative through sales and marketing initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage client accounts and serve as the primary point of contact throughout each project.
Prepare, present, and follow up on proposals, quotes, and project opportunities.
Coordinate internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on brand, and on budget.
Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for continued growth and support.
Designs low and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma for usability testing and cross-functional communication.
Validates design decisions with user research, while being able to quickly iterate on designs based on client feedback.
Utilizes WordPress and the Elementor page builder to create new and update existing webpages.
Understands Responsive Development and optimizes for desktop, tablet, and mobile viewpoints.
Tests cross-browser, cross-platform, and/or cross-device compatibility.
Implements file optimization & basic Search Engine Optimization
Experienced with analytic tools such as Google Analytics, SEMRush, etc.
Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS with working knowledge of JavaScript/frameworks
In-depth knowledge of the Adobe suite and other prototyping tools (XD, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
Keep plugins and themes up to date
Experience creating email campaigns using Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.
Manages and maintains web servers, specifically Managed WordPress servers.
Proficiency with version control and utilization of development/staging environments.
Proof copy for consistency and accuracy.
Collaborates with other designers, developers, marketers, and the sales team to generate effective design solutions and receive feedback.
Strong communication skills with ability to articulate the reasoning behind your designs to clients and peers.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines while effectively managing multiple projects with creativity and flexibility.
Continuously enhance skills and apply emerging best practices in web design and development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Production use of WordPress: 3+ years (Required)
Experience designing low and high-fidelity prototypes with Figma: 3+ years (Preferred)
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, and PHP: 3+ years (Preferred)
Experience utilizing responsive development and design principles
Knowledge of basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: 2+ years (Preferred)
Graphic Design & Video Editing: 1 year (Preferred)
Social media marketing, making, and placing ads or managing social accounts
(Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Ads, etc.)
Email and SMS Marketing
Ability to analyze web, marketing, and user research data
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Superior organizational skills and experience meeting deadlines.
Multi-task with high level of accuracy, follow-through, and detail-orientation.
Exceptional eye for attention to detail
Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Some overnight travel required (10-15%).
