Workers' Compensation Technical Assistant (entry-level; hybrid)

What you will do:

The Workers' Compensation Technical Assistant is an important role to keep the Workers' Compensation department running smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in detail orientation and information review and verification to complete and submit forms and other technical information. Skills in customer service will also be important as communication with medical providers and our insureds will occur on a regular basis as we work towards ensuring customer satisfaction and claims resolution. Key responsibilities:

  • Answer/return calls from medical providers regarding the status of medical payments, confirm payments, research re-consideration, etc.
  • Assist in the daily review of the Genex Medical Bill 0105 queue.
  • C8.1 Notice of Decisions – find the DOS/EOB in OnBase and submit to Genex to process the medical bill.
  • Completion of the HP-2’s – produce check copy, find the EOB, complete the HP2 form, and mail copies to the WCB and medical provider.
  • Genex UR Bills - issue manual payments on all UR invoices.
  • Subject matter expert on EDI: assist with EDI filings, error correction, claims EDI help box and quarterly EDI report.
  • Follow up with our insured for the completion of the C-11, C-240.
  • Follow up with the insured for Job Analysis forms, job descriptions.
  • Overpayment Letters and setting a follow up diary for recovery.
  • Save the approved PAR from the NYS OnBoard portal, upload to OnBase and then send a support task to mail a copy to the claimant and Plaintiff counsel. Refer approved PARS to One Call, PRN, MSQ.
  • Contact Doctor’s office to schedule the IME. Secure all medical reports and forward to the IME doctor. Send out appointment letters to the claimant and Plaintiff Counsel.
  • Review and Pay IME invoices. Handle returned checks. Pay Genex UR Bills. Send HIPAA forms to the medical facility to secure medical records.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management in relation to daily operations.
  • Operate within a rules-based environment with a strong customer satisfaction emphasis.
  • Adhere to mandated state regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need:

  • Bachelor's Degree with insurance coursework preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Up to 2 years' previous claims experience preferred.

Salary range: $35,000 - $45,500

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.

This position is a full time hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position.
