Overview

Description The Site WHS Officer will partner with a site operations team in a delivery station to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes and ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. The Site WHS Officer should build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The role requires effective communication of safety policies and standards to Operations Leaders and site teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS standards and policies.
  • Measure site performance against published safety requirements; for any deficiencies, identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver on-time and quality safety projects to Operations.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends weekly and monthly to allocate resources to high-risk areas.
  • Ensure proper incident investigation and closure of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliance in equipment or processes, and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks.
  • Audit record-keeping and ensure entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring are accurate and consistent.
  • Lead and mentor Safety Associates in the assigned facility during peak periods.
  • Engage with Safety teams, Associates, and leaders to solicit improvement opportunities and communicate progress and resolutions.
  • Ensure leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their safety responsibilities; audit the quality and effectiveness of all required safety training.
  • Manage PPE inventory and coordinate procurement to ensure appropriate stock levels and compliance.
  • Implement best practices at the site and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Implement and maintain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety and yard safety systems.
  • Ensure the Standard Work Permit System is used at the site.
  • Manage safe contractor engagement at the site.
  • Maintain a basic safety training calendar for associates and deliver trainings as scheduled.
  • Collaborate with facility teams to ensure preventive maintenance of fire protection and emergency equipment; provide basic fire fighting and first aid training as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, or equivalent, or 1+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working to health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • KAWADIR Safety Professional Certificate.
