JOB PURPOSE
This position ensures compliance with occupational health, safety and environment (HSE) guidelines Advise on safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and enforce preventative measures. Their role involves promoting a safe workplace, providing training, and investigating incidents to improve overall safety.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Maintain safety and discipline across the assigned work areas.

Develop, implement, and enforce effective measures to minimize risks associated with container terminal operations.

Ensure strict adherence to regulations issued by the Port Authority and DP World HSE requirements.

Oversee the induction process to confirm that safety training and protective equipment are provided to all new staff and visitors.

Deliver periodic refresher training whenever required on safety standards and other safety aspects.

Implement emergency response drills regularly as per the company schedule to ensure preparedness among the workforces.

Conduct the required mandatory tasks during shifts in alignment with GHSE requirements, including but not limited to vessel inspections and compliance with GHSE Assessment Programs.

Respond immediately to incident notifications, ensuring proper on-site management and escalation where required.

Lead incident investigations during shifts through the designated committee, in alignment with the DP World Incident Management Standard.

Carry out random audits and inspections to monitor compliance with HSE policies and procedures.

Conduct formal risk assessments, define controls, and develop or update SOPs to mitigate operational risks.

Closely monitor high-risk operational areas to ensure consistent adherence to SOPs and take necessary corrective actions as required.

Support the implementation and maintenance of the Safety and Environmental Management System.

Prepare and submit the required reports on the safety status and related safety matters.

Participate in and lead emergency situations when required, including but not limited to leakage and spillage incidents.

Oversee and ensure proper implementation of the Work Permit system, verifying compliance with GHSE requirements before, during, and after task execution.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education: Bachelor’s degree/graduate in any engineering/sciences discipline

HSE courses (e.g. NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, Industrial Safety Diploma)

Experience in Port monitoring and safety Preferable: 2 years or more

Experience in Safety Monitoring and training

Preferable experience in heavy engineering industry as a safety officer
